Golden

Jennifer Heil wins Canada's first medal of the Olympics, a gold in Moguls.

Heil took gold in freestyle moguls on Saturday. The native of Spruce Grove, Alta., who led after the preliminary round, put together a solid final run to finish ahead of Kari Traa of Norway with a final score of 26.50.

Three other Canadians also reached the final. Kristi Richards of Summerland, B.C., finished seventh at 23.36, Audrey Robichaud of Val Belair, Que., was eighth at 23.10 and Stephanie St-Pierre of Victoriaville, Que., was 12th with 22.52.

Did anyone catch the Olympic announcer introduce Heil as representing the U.S.? Not once, but twice?

Comments:
Did you see it? She was pretty spectacular. Good for her, good for us.

I saw it. I loved it.

I try to catch as many Olympic events as possible. It is the only time of the year when I will watch curling, skiing or luge.

I was equally impressed with the 16-0 victory for the women's hockey team.

Finally, a very good interview by the new Minister of Sport Michael Chong. He was well spoken and well read.
