Plan B

Conservatives need to suck it up. Belinda can only be your whipping boy for so long.

It might time to examine the real reason that your party doesn't appeal to the majority of Canadians:

(1) A stiff, humourless leader. Harper is a fantastic policy wonk, but has the charisma of jelly. No offence to Green Jell-0. He often projects himself as mad as hell and the venom is going to spew through the televison and hit couches everywhere. He is not a leader.

(2) Conservatives need to articulate a postive message for Canada. We know what Conservatives are against and won't be. What are you for? What is your plan to make Canada strong? A vision or plan is meant to be shared not secret.

(3) Balance the ticket. 4 Social Conservative's are nominated - John Weston, Darrel Reid, Cindy Silver and Marc Dalton(each one of these individuals have strong links to Focus on the Family) -for every (Garth Turner)Progressive Conservative. Those are good odds if you want to win an election in the US, but not in Canada. This country is largely, especially in urban ridings, a secular nation. Religion and politcs don't mix.

(4) Expand the inner circle. Bust up the Calgary crew - they are 0 for the world in federal elections. Bring in some more decision makers from Central and Eastern Canada.

Bumf has some other suggestions that may go along way to making the next election enjoyable and interesting. Belinda was right on one thing during her newser - Canada needs two strong parties and an alternative to the Liberals. Sadly, today's Conservative party are not there yet.
